Elk Grove Village fireworks to cost $62,000 this year

Elk Grove Village is paying $62,000 for three fireworks displays in town this year.

The village board this week renewed the third year of a five-year contract with Johnny Rockets Fireworks Display Corp. of Chicago to design and produce fireworks displays at the RotaryFest for $4,000, Fourth of July for $50,000, and a tree-lighting ceremony for $4,000.

The cost for the Fourth of July fireworks is partially offset by contributions from residents who choose to donate to the fireworks on their utility bills.

The board also approved a $54,624 contract with Temple Display for holiday lights at the municipal complex.
