Dundee-Crown opens 'The Secret Garden' this weekend

The Dundee-Crown High School music department presents "The Secret Garden" at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16 to Saturday, April 18, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19, in the performing arts center at the school, 1 Charger Country in Carpentersville.

Tickets are $12 or $10 for students or seniors. Tickets are available at www.greateventseats.com/dc or at the door.

The musical is based on the classic children's novel from 1911 by Frances Hodgson Burnett, who also wrote "The Little Princess" and "Little Lord Fauntleroy."

The story was later adapted into a musical with book and lyrics by Marsha Norman and music by Lucy Simon. It premiered on Broadway in 1991, 80 years after the book was published.

The musical is directed by William Sherry, with choreography by Andy Bero.

The cast includes: Alyssa Weir as Lily, Christine Johnsen as Mary, Billy Krueger as Fakir, Natalie Bieri as Ayah, Alyssa Fry as Rose (Mary's Mother), Hoff Campbell as Captain Albert Lennox (Mary's father), Graham Pienkowskias Lieutenant Peter Wright, Whalen Good as Lieutenant Ian Shaw, Jelani Washington as Major Holmes, Kelly Hicks as Claire (his wife), Amber Lavin as Alice (Rose's friend), Natalie Ruh as Mrs. Shelley, Ben Garcia as Major Shelley, Korey Hughes as Archibald Craven (Mary's uncle), Sebastian Morse as Dr. Neville Craven (his brother), Molly Foulkes as Mrs. Medlock (the housekeeper), Madelin Hunsberger as Martha (a chamber maid), Quinn Miller as Dickon (her brother), Eric Torres as Ben (the gardener), Nathan Stone as Colin, Aisha Washington as Mrs. Winthrop, Alexandria Blummer as Nurse; Dean Brisbois as Timothy, and Kelsea Nolan as Robin.
