No injuries reported in St. Charles fire late Wednesday

No one was injured in a garage fire in the 2900 block of Royal Fox Drive in St. Charles late Wednesday, authorities said.

A resident of the home discovered the fire when he entered the garage at 11:36 p.m. to do some work, authorities said. He alerted a sibling to phone for help and the two alerted other people inside the residence.

Firefighters were advised by police the garage was fully engulfed in flames, authorities said. Firefighters arrived at the scene at 11:39 p.m., authorities said, and found the fire was moving into the house.

Firefighters extinguished the flames in approximately 90 minutes, authorities said.

Fire investigators continue to investigate the blaze, authorities said, but the blaze is not considered suspicious.

The loss is estimated at $175,000 to the structure and contents, authorities said. Officials determined the home is not habitable and the occupants have made their own temporary housing arrangements.

The St. Charles Fire Department was assisted by departments from Geneva, Batavia, West Chicago, Elburn and Fermi Lab. The North Aurora and South Elgin Fire Departments provided coverage at St. Charles fire stations.
