Hunt stepping down from Barrington board after 13 years of service

Longtime Barrington Village Trustee Paul Hunt publicly discussed his retirement from the board for the first time this week, calling it a difficult decision.

Hunt, who was first appointed to the board in 2002, declined to seek another term in last week's election, meaning that he will give up his seat in May. Jason Lohmeyer was elected April 7 to fill his seat.

"It was a tough decision," Hunt said during this week's board meeting. "The last 12½ years, this has been one of the most constant things in my life, and I really enjoy it."

Hunt said the village has changed for the better in recent years.

"And I really believe - and that was my hardest decision not to run - that there is more coming," he said.

Trustee Robert Windon said Hunt has provided the board with a wealth of knowledge stemming from his 36-year career with ComEd.

"He has been for me personally one of the many veteran voices helping me in my transition onto the board four years ago," Windon said.

Hunt said he hopes he can serve the community in a different manner once he is off the board.
