Local Law Firm Negotiates Land Acquisition for Flint Creek Savanna Preserve

Barrington-based Lynam & Associates today announced that, acting as lead negotiator, it has secured a strategically located 13.3-acre parcel in Lake Barrington, Illinois on behalf of Citizens for Conservation, one of the most successful conservation organizations in the U.S., which expands its existing Flint Creek Savanna Preserve to 146 acres.

According to David J. Lynam, principal of Lynam & Associates, Citizens for Conservation's mission is to protect northeastern Illinois habitat and open space, restore biodiversity, reduce storm water flooding, and provide for the recharge of the water table for local communities' drinking water.

"Working with Citizens we have been successful in expanding the Preserve to 146 acres of open space, both directly and by collaborating with private entities and local governments," said Lynam. "Our continued commitment to protect the Fox River ecosystem is now reflected in the fact that Citizens owns eleven preserves with more than 430 acres, and has been the catalyst in creating four new forest preserves in the Greater Barrington area."

Lynam stated the latest acquisition will help protect the Flint Creek tributary to the Fox River Watershed and continue efforts to restore the preserve to its natural habitat. "With the aid and support of Citizens' volunteers, we can protect critical habitat, protect the water recharge system that serves local communities, and ensure that Flint Creek's natural resources are preserved," he explained.
