Girls water polo: Northwest roundup

The girls water polo teams from Schaumburg and Conant pooled their efforts and managed to raise more than $3,000 in a multiple sclerosis fundraiser on Wednesday.

Conant (18-0, 7-0) prevailed 7-3 to protect its lead in the Mid-Suburban West as Carmen Rosas (4 goals) and Paulina Chowaniec (2) led the scoring effort.

Britney Vasquez, Briann Vasquez and Becca Kasner each scored for the Saxons (6-8, 2-5).

Palatine 11 Hoffman 0: Junior goalie Tess O'Brien earned her first varsity shutout as the host Pirates (16-4, 5-2) claimed an MSL West victory.

Prospect 9, Rolling Meadows 5: The visiting Mustangs were within 1 goal after three quarters before the Knights pulled away in MSL East action.

Danielle McCallister, Niki Neumann and Michelle Vuong had 2 goals apiece for Prospect (11-4, 6-1) and Lauren Broz made 10 saves, while Erin Pletch led the way with 4 goals for Meadows (6-8, 2-4) and Besty Zanocco stopped 17 shots.
