Felde pitches Schaumburg past Palatine

Schaumburg became the first Mid-Suburban League softball team to win two games in the conference as the Saxons stopped visiting Palatine 15-5 in six innings on Tuesday.

Illinois State recruit Shannon Felde (3-1) notched the win and also went 3-for-4 at the plate with 2 RBI as the Saxons improved to 8-1 and 2-0 in the MSL West.

Felde's catcher Elaine Walker had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with 2 home runs, the second a walk-off in the bottom of the sixth.

Other top hitters for the Saxons were Kaiden Jackson (2-for-4, double, RBI), Paige Alt (2-4, double, RBI), Christina Candotti (3-for-4, 2 doubles, home run, 4 RBI) and Natalie Napier (3-for-4, double).

Also getting hits for the Saxons were Michelle Birkholz (RBI), Brittany Butt (RBI) and Roxanne Kakareka (1B).

Palatine's Nora Walsh went 2-for-3 while Erin Davis, Kenzie Craver (double, 2 RBI), Brooke Bauer and Reggie Much (RBI) each had a hit for the visitors (3-9, 0-2)

Ellie Kozlowski (1-1) and Erin Davis (1 strikeouts) split the game on the mound for Palatine.

Leyden 5, Taft 4 (11 inn): Jodi DuBrock (2-4) and Brittany Aiello (2-5) each doubled for Leyden while junior Kendall Duwal earned the win.

Deerfield 8, Maine West 1: Maine West junior catcher Kayla Pociejewski went 2-for-3 with a home run for the visiting Warriors (3-6) in their Central Suburban North opener.
