Christian Liberty, Rolling Meadows suffer 1-run setbacks

Christian Liberty rallied but couldn't quite catch Alden-Hebron in Northeastern Athletic Conference baseball action Tuesday.

The Chargers rallied with 3 runs in the seventh inning but still came up short 10-9.

Junior Chris Hoffman tripled and Aiden Miller and Jake Ringstrang both had doubles as Christian Liberty finished with 8 hits and committed 3 errors.

Hoffman suffered the loss for the Chargers, who fell to 6-6 overall and 4-2 in the NAC.

Notre Dame 2, Rolling Meadows 1 (8 inn.): The visiting Mustangs scored once in the first inning and maintained a 1-0 lead until the bottom of the seventh.

Notre Dame won it with a run in the eighth. Mike Ferri doubled to start the inning and advanced to third on a groundout by his brother, Sam. Cleanup hitter Tim Simon, who had a game-winning homer Saturday against Glenbrook North, singled to center field to drive in winning run.

Ellis Shalton tossed 5 scoreless inning for Rolling Meadows, and Terry Moran had 1 scoreless relief inning.

Brett Gibson doubled for 1 of the Mustangs' 2 hits.
