Brendan Murphy struck out eight in 6 innings as visiting Mundelein won its North Suburban Lake baseball opener with a 5-1 victory over Warren.
Mundelein (11-4) got 2-for-3 efforts from Reese Dolan, Reed Rubio (double), Luke Peterson (double) and Zach Zagula (double).
Warren's Matt Burch was 2-for-3 with a double.
Loyola 9, Stevenson 8: The Ramblers rallied for the nonconference win.
Pat Loeffler had a 3-run home run for Stevenson.
Lake Forest 11, Libertyville 3: Jake Vogt went 2-for-4 for the Wildcats, who trailed the North Suburban Lake game only 3-2 until the Scouts scored 4 runs in the top of the fifth.
Vogt and Jimmy Govern both doubled for Libertyville.
Wauconda 17, Round Lake 4: The Bulldogs got doubles from Jacob Bicknase, Kevin Malisheski, Kyle Harmon and Pierson Gibis.
Malisheski earned the win, as Wauconda improved to 5-5.
Grant 11, North Chicago 0: Sophomore lefty Sam Fernandez earned the five-inning win for the Bulldogs in North Suburban Prairie action.
Carmel 6, Stevenson 2: On Monday, Matthew Collins hit a solo home run and went 4-for-4, and Garrett McClellan allowed 1 earned run over 6 innings, as the Corsairs captured the nonconference game.
Ryan Jones had a double for Carmel, which also saw Dylan Van Erden go 2-for-3 and Joe Santoro go 2-for-4 with 3 RBI. McClellan scattered 4 hits, including a double to Jimmy Marchese.
