Learn about credit, saving money in Palatine

The Palatine Public Library District features four financial programs for Money Smart Week that are designed to help you better manage your personal finances and save you money. Learn and gain tips from professionals. To sign up for any of these programs, call (847) 358-5881 or visit palatinelibrary.org.

"Get Organized, Stay Organized, Save Money" will be held from 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. Professional organizer and speaker, Beth Randall, of Joe Organizer, will help you save money with organization skills. Randall is a member of the National Association of Organizers.

"What You Need to Know About Credit Scores and Credit History" will take place from 7-8 p.m. Monday, April 21. Have you checked your credit score lately? Do you know what is in your credit history? Karen Chan of Karen Chan Financial Education & Consulting, LLC, will teach you ways to keep on top of your credit. Chan is a member of the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education; the Financial Planning Association; and the Eastern Family Economics-Resource Management Association.

"How to Maximize Your Social Security Income" will be held from 7-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22. Mike Heatwole, a financial adviser of Waddell & Reed Financial Advisors shares the different filing options for Social Security. You may identify an opportunity to increase your monthly Social Security income!

"Don't Pay the College Sticker Price" will be presented from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, April 23. Learn three key areas of opportunity to reduce the overall cost of a college education from Joe Orsolini, a certified financial planner and respected authority on college planning.
