NIU Law associate professor named Lisagor Award finalist by Chicago Headline Club

Marc Falkoff, Northern Illinois University law associate professor and director of faculty development, has been named a finalist by the Chicago Headline Club for its coveted 2015 Lisagor Award, recognizing the best in Chicago journalism. Winners will be announced at the CHC annual awards dinner and reception to be held on May 8 at the Union League Club of Chicago.

Falkoff is being recognized for his legal opinion columns on current criminal law cases and issues which appeared under the title "Criminal Convictions," and were published by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin throughout 2014.

NIU Law Dean Jennifer Rosato Perea shares her appreciation for Falkoff's efforts. "Writing for such venerable publications as the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin provides a multitude of benefits - for the readers and for the publication, but also for the law school, by recognizing that our professors have knowledge and perspectives that educate the legal community in a variety of ways."

Rosato Perea continues, "Marc's insightful perspective on criminal law and procedure is incredibly worthy of this broader audience. We are very proud of him receiving this recognition."

The Chicago Headline Club's annual Lisagor Awards recognize the best of Chicago journalism and are named for Peter Lisagor, the Chicago Daily News Washington Bureau chief from 1959 to 1976.

NIU College of Law - the only public law school in the Chicago area - has been named a top law school nationally for diversity, value, and careers in public interest/government service. NIU Law provides unique opportunities for its students, beginning with its highly accomplished faculty who are personally invested in the success of their students throughout their careers. Although many alumni serve as public interest attorneys, prosecutors, defenders, elected officials, and judges, they are equally prepared for careers as solo practitioners and/or lawyers in multinational firms.
