Batavia Mothers' Club 15h annual 5K/10K runs raise money for local charities

The Batavia Mothers' Club Foundation hosted its 15th annual Fox Trot 5K and 10K race Saturday at the Riverwalk in downtown Batavia.

About 265 runners in both races took off simultaneously, crossing the Fox River pedestrian bridge en masse, following the Fox River Trail. Awards were handed out for the winners of both races in a number of age groups following the race.

The Fox Trot also featured a noncompetitive Kids' Fun Run, which had about 60 participants.

"I think it's important to raise money for the local charities and give back to the community that we all live in," said Deanna Modaff of Geneva, co-chair director of the run.

Event proceeds will benefit Batavia schools and local charities, including Mutual Ground, Hesed House, Living Well, Royal Family Kids Camp and Tri-City Family Services.
