Baseball: Lake County roundup

Grant 5, Warren 4: James Pendley blasted a 3-run home run to power Grant to the North Suburban crossover win. Nick Heidenthal added a double and drove in 2 runs for the Bulldogs, who are 9-2 on the season.

Pitcher Andrew Stone moves to 3-1 on the season on the mound. He finished with 3 strikeouts in five innings. Chad Baron got his fourth save of the season.

For Warren, Chris Mathieu and Jake Falish led the way with 2 hits apiece. Falish drilled a home run and Mathieu had a double. Cary-Grove 8, Grayslake Central 2: Cary-Grove scored 5 runs over the final two innings to pull away.

Jeff Terronez paced Grayslake Central with 2 hits, including a double.

Lakes 9, Zion-Benton 4: Pitcher Jack Christensen (1-0) got his first win of the season. He got 3 strikeouts over six innings.

Brett Buchholz led the Lakes offense with 3 hits, including a double. He also drove in 2 runs. Teammates Matt Putman and Bryan Gross added 2 hits apiece for the Eagles (5-4). Gross had a triple.

Libertyville 20, Round Lake 3: Thanks to 17 hits, Libertyville cruised to the North Suburban crossover win.

Jimmy Govern, Ben Kimpler and Sean Ferraro each had 2 hits for the Wildcats. Kimpler had a triple and Ferraro had a double.

Riley Lees, Ben Manski, Jake Vogt and Connor Burke also had doubles for Libertyville.

Pitcher Tim Calamari got the win. He had 5 strikeouts over five innings.

Mundelein 8, Antioch 0: Winning pitcher Nick Brune allowed just 2 hits and also had a double for Mundelein. Meanwhile, teammate Wes Farmer went 3-for-4 at the plate.

Carmel 6, Palatine 5: Carmel scored 4 runs in the seventh to rally for the win.

Griffin Norton led Carmel with 3 hits while Joey Lake added 2 hits.

Pitcher Skylar Williams got the win. He gave up no hits and no runs in two innings.

Stevenson 16, North Chicago 0: Pitcher Jake Nusinow led Stevenson to the breezy win. He rolled up 6 strikeouts in two innings.

Robert McGaha paced the offense with a grand slam home run while Evan Scaletta added 2 hits, including a double.
