Nesvacil, Naughton returned to Arlington Heights park board

Rob Nesvacil and Myles Naughton won new terms on the Arlington Heights Park District board, according to unofficial results Tuesday.

With all 61 precincts reporting, Naughton had 3,777 votes and Nesvacil had 3,511 votes. Challenger Brian Byrne had 2,600 votes.

"Experience won out this time," Nesvacil said. He has been on the board since 2003 and Naughton since 2007.

After two failed attempts to raise taxes through referendum, the park board has changed its method, and is upgrading facilities at a slower pace.

The Camelot Park Community Center was finished in 2014. Nesvacil said the board hopes to renovate another community center by 2019.

The next decision is whether Heritage, Frontier, Recreation or Olympic Aquatic Center will be next.
