Wheaton concert to benefit Special Olympics Illinois

The sixth annual "You Raise Me Up" concert to benefit Special Olympics Illinois features the talents of The STARS of College Church in Wheaton, 'Til Sunset, Tyisha Brown and Beyond Glee.

The concert also will feature personal experiences from local Special Olympic athletes. Festivities begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at College Church, 332 E. Seminary Ave., Wheaton.

Tyisha Brown of Chicago has traveled both nationally and internationally for vocal performance and is a worship leader for Harvest Bible Chapel in Naperville. She was featured on the 2013 recording "Greater Still" and is working on her first album.

Beyond Glee, a mixed adult community chorus, began performing together in September 2012 and has gained a reputation as being one of the premier groups in the Chicago area.

Returning for the sixth year is The STARS of College Church, who will perform songs by Rascal Flatts and The Gray Havens in this year's concert. The STARS are part of College Church's ministry for the intellectually disabled.

'Til Sunset is a Chicago-based alternative rock group formed by high school buddies Rich Torkelson (percussion), Dimitri Tianis (vocals, guitar), Zac Coleman (vocals, guitar), and Sam Waddick (bass guitar). Taking inspiration from Blink-182, Weezer, Foo Fighters and Sonic the Hedgehog, they have created their own brand of alternative music.

Tickets are $10 each or five for $40 and are available at eventbrite.com. One hundred percent of ticket revenue will benefit Special Olympics Illinois Far West Suburban/Area 2, serving athletes with intellectual disabilities in the suburbs in west DuPage, Kane and Kendall counties.
