Neighbors in the News: Dean at Harper is named education fellow, joins study program next year

Daily Herald reports

The Kildeer Countryside School District 96 Board of Education approved the appointment of Cynthia Zarkowsky to fill the vacancy created by the resignation in February of board member Bob Gauthier.

Zarkowsky brings the background of a professional educator to her role. She earned a master's degree in teaching from National Louis University and has taught elementary students in District 28-Northbrook, District 95-Lake Zurich, and District 109-Deerfield.

A Buffalo Grove resident, Zarkowsky has a long history of community service. After serving as secretary on the Prairie Elementary School PTO executive board during the 2009-2010 school year, she accepted the role of Prairie PTO president the following year and continued in that position through June 2014.

In addition to her volunteer work, she has served on various District 96 committees and has regularly attended board of education meetings to increase her understanding of district curriculum, enrollment and staffing, and finances.
