Facts about cost of ambulance referendum

On Tuesday, a voter referendum will offer the citizens in the Fox Lake Fire Protection District the opportunity to vote on a proposed increase to the Ambulance Tax.

Fox Lake currently has the lowest established ambulance tax in Lake County, and has never asked the voters for an increase since the Ambulance Tax was approved by voters in 1978.

The current rate is 0.133 and, if approved, would increase to 0.350. The approximate amount of the additional tax extended for a home valued at $100,000 is estimated to be $72.33 annually, not monthly. This equates to about $6.03 per month, or 20 cents per day.

We encourage any of our residents to please call one of our stations if they have any questions, or stop by and visit with our personnel and let them explain the reasons why the proposed increase question is on the ballot.
