Lavelle Law Nominated for Bar Asociation Award

Lavelle Law, Ltd, the Palatine based law firm known for its commitment to community service has been nominated for the Illinois State Bar Association's John C. McAndrews Pro Bono Service Award. The firm was nominated in the category for law firms with less than 25 attorneys for their commitment to providing free legal services to individuals and families who would otherwise be unable to afford representation.

The John C. McAndrews Pro Bono Service Award was instituted by the state bar association to honor individuals, bar associations, and law firms who have exhibited an extraordinary commitment to providing pro bono service in civil legal matters. The award is named in memory of Rock Island attorney John McAndrews.

"We are honored to receive this recognition from our peers," said Lavelle Law associate Lance Ziebell. "Mr. McAndrews set an exceptional example for our industry and providing pro bono services is a critical component of our firm."

The attorneys at the firm have made themselves available for legal assistance to a number of organizations in the last year including LAF, formerly the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago, Between Friends, a court-based advocacy program for victims of domestic violence, Northwest Suburban Bar Association, The Center for Disability and Elder Law, The Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation, Willow Creek Legal Aid Ministry, Journeycare Foundation and others.

Ziebell described a range of issues for which the Lavelle Law attorneys provide assistance including probate cases, drivers license suspension hearings, IRS disputes, orders of protection and child custody, Medicaid problems, EEOC mediation, consumer complaints and nursing home billing errors. "With twenty attorneys representing more than a dozen practice groups we are able to help individuals in need in a number of areas. We take this responsibility quite seriously and consider this nomination as a much appreciated form of recognition."

Winners in each category will be announced at the Illinois State Bar Association's annual meeting in June.

Lavelle Law has previously received numerous awards and commendations from local communities and organization for the firm's charitable work including their annual Palatine Food Drive. The firm also produces a free weekly podcast covering legal topics that is available at www.blogtalkradio.com and on the firm's website at www.lavellelaw.com
