Young children celebrated at Gurnee parks:

Gurnee Park District will have activities to celebrate the national "Week of The Young Child: Celebrating Our Youngest Learners!" running April 12-18. From 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, the Growing Tree Preschool open house will be at Viking Park Community Center, 4374 Old Grand Ave. Visitors can meet the teachers, tour the classroom and enjoy activities designed for young children. From 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, there will be a parent workshop at the Viking center. It's called "Raising an Emotionally Intelligent Child - Supporting Your Child's Emotional Intelligence in Early Childhood" and will be presented by Katherine Zinsser, assistant clinical psychology professor at University of Illinois-Chicago. From 5 to 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Hunt Club Park Community Center, 920 N. Hunt Club Road, will be the venue for a children's Zumba party.
