Grand jury subpoenas seek COD records on Breuder, COD foundation board member

DuPage County prosecutors are seeking years of records concerning the spending and employment contract of College of DuPage President Robert Breuder, according to copies of grand jury subpoenas released last night by the Glen Ellyn-based school. The DuPage County state's attorney's office has issued three subpoenas to the college, two dated Feb. 5 and one dated March 19, concerning Breuder as well as a member of the COD Foundation board. Naperville commits money to maintain public art

Naperville City Council members decided yesterday to invest in maintenance of public art installed by Century Walk Corp. The nonprofit group sought a three-year funding commitment of $200,000 a year for maintenance of its 47 pieces of art and creation of new art while founder 75-year-old Brand Bobosky works out a plan for the group's future. Man in custody after Naperville couple stabbed

A Naperville man has been charged with the stabbing of Naperville couple early yesterday. The stabbing occurred around 1 a.m. on the 900 block of Iroquois Avenue. All three were taken to Edward Hospital. Full story.

Student with BB gun apprehended at Schaumburg H.S.

A student at Schaumburg High School was taken into custody yesterday morning while in possession of a BB gun. According to a message sent out to parents and students, several students reported seeing the male student with what appeared to be a gun in his waistband at about 11:45 a.m. Full story.

No Campton Hills watering ban this summer

Campton Hills residents will get a reprieve on an all-out watering ban this summer because Wasco Sanitary District trustees have rejected bids to rehabilitate the district's 400,000-gallon water tower. If the project went through this summer, some 1,000 Campton Hills households that are served by the sanitary district would have been banned from watering lawns and bushes, washing cars, using power washers and even small children's pools. Aircraft din raising a ruckus in Chicago mayoral election

With just a few days left until Chicago's mayoral election, a renewed din from O'Hare International Airport is putting the noise issue front and center. About 1,265 noise complaints were submitted to the Fair Allocation in Runways, or FAIR, citizens group between 9 and 11 a.m. yesterday. Complaints rose from 134,007 in February to 397,306 in March, the coalition of city and suburbs reported. Full story.

Barrington Hills to outsource emergency dispatching

A month after rejecting a proposal to outsource the village's police dispatch operations, village trustees reversed course this week and narrowly approved the same measure. The decision means that the village will join QuadCom, a Carpentersville-based 911 center that dispatches for nine other nearby communities, including South Barrington and East Dundee. Full story.

Bears add competition at running back

The Bears added a little variety to their backfield yesterday by signing unrestricted free agent Jacquizz Rodgers to a one-year deal. The 5-foot-6, 188-pound former Atlanta Falcon is expected to compete for playing time with Ka'Deem Carey behind workhorse running back Matt Forte, who rushed for 1,038 yards on 266 carries and caught 102 passes for 808 yards last season.
