Gurnee businesses pass liquor compliance check
Gurnee police say village businesses passed with flying colors in the latest liquor compliance check. Police conduct periodic checks of businesses within the village that offer retail sales of alcoholic beverages, with the most recent coming March 18. As part of the check, detectives accompanied six underage volunteers of the Gurnee Police Explorer Post who entered establishments and attempted to purchase an alcohol products or an alcoholic beverage. All open liquor license holders in the village were checked and no violations were found. “The village of Gurnee has zero tolerance for selling or providing alcohol to kids,” Police Chief Kevin Woodside said. “These compliance checks are one way to ensure that liquor license holders are serving responsibly.”
