Sidewalk, curb, lighting work begins around Barrington Village Center

Work done at the village-backed commercial real estate project in downtown Barrington will begin directly affecting residents and drivers for the next month, the village announced Monday.

The sidewalks adjacent to the Barrington Village Center, at Hough and Main streets, will be replaced, meaning pedestrians will have to use walkways across the street.

Old streetlights also will be replaced, leaving parts of the area without illumination for several weeks.

Traffic will be diverted at certain points throughout the day to accommodate utility work, curb replacement and paving operations.

Work began on the site in mid-October and organizers have been aiming to have the project complete this summer.
