Electronics recycling resumes in Mt. Prospect

Residents of Mount Prospect or other communities in the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) can drop off unwanted electronics at the Mount Prospect Public Works building, 1700 W. Central Road, from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays April 8 through the end of October.

Not all electronics items will be accepted. Visit mountprospect.org, or swancc.org to review the list of acceptable items. For more information, contact the Public Works Department at (847) 870-5640.

Putting certain electronics items in the garbage is prohibited under the Illinois Product Recycling and Reuse Act, effective Jan. 1, 2012. Since then, the village site has taken in more than 250,000 pounds of electronics for recycling.
