Dundee Lions contribute $5,000 to local charities

At the last meeting, Herb Beck, chairman of the donations committee, announced the Dundee Township Lions Club would be contributing more than $5,000 to local charities.

Donations of varying amounts will be given to Association for Individual Development, Community Crises Center, Burn Camp, Child's Voice, Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township, Fish Food Pantry, Camp Lions, Dundee Township Park District and NISRA.

This money is from a variety of fundraising events the Lions work on during the year. Some of these include money raised from the Christmas tree sales, concessions at the summer concert series, and the pancake breakfast at the Heritage Fest. Beck expressed appreciation to the many Lions and community volunteers who have helped with these projects. He noted also that it is gratifying when people of the community generously support these projects.

In addition, the Lions have given more than $1,000 for glasses and evaluations for schoolchildren when parents are unable to afford these services. When called upon, Lions also assist in the purchase for hearing aids with students.

The Lions meet regularly in the evening at the Village Squire in West Dundee. Individuals wanting to find out more about the Lions are invited to attend a meeting. Call Jim McClung, president, at (847) 567-7127 for a reservation.
