Meet the artists behind Prospect Hts. library's lobby exhibit

Join the Prospect Heights Public Library at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 2, for an artist reception in honor of its April Lobby Artist Lorraine Caposieno.

Caposieno studied at the American Academy of Art, in Chicago, and more recently with Dominic Vignola of Oak Park and Thia Malenchik of Palatine. She is a member, and the program director, of the Elk Grove Village Art League.

A recent winner of several awards at Elk Grove Village juried art shows and various exhibits, Caposieno put her art aside for many years while she raised her daughters and worked outside her home. Later as a "reluctant retiree" she went back to painting and finds it rewarding in so many ways, as well as being "therapeutic."

Caposieno and her husband have traveled through Italy extensively so many of her paintings are of the Tuscan countryside and cities, which come from the photos taken during those trips. Coming home to create paintings of her photos allows her to relive the parts of those trips that were so meaningful.

Caposieno's original oil paintings will be on display in the lobby of the library April 1 through April 30. You can view more of her art at artbylorraine.com.

Come meet Caposieno during a reception in her honor, at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 2, light refreshments will be served. The library is located at 12 N. Elm St., Prospect Heights.
