Trinity International University Offers Youth Basketball Summer Camp June 15-19

Trinity International University is offering a Youth Basketball Camp for area boys and girls during the week of June 15-19, from 9 am to 4 pm daily, on the Deerfield campus at 2065 Half Day Road.

The TIU Youth Basketball Camp is for boys and girls ages 5-14 who are looking for a unique atmosphere that transcends the typical camp experience. Participants will be coached, trained, and molded into better basketball players through top-notch skill instruction, while also being taught and encouraged to develop positive character traits for everyday life.

Camp will be held in the Van Dixhorn Arena on campus - the new home for TIU's basketball and volleyball teams. Lunch is provided in the Waybright Center, the campus hub where all TIU students eat their meals. It is an all-you-can-eat arrangement that campers will love, with plenty of healthy options.

Boomer Roberts, head coach of TIU Men's Basketball, will lead the camp, along with Jason Irwin, assistant coach. Other local college coaches and current members of the TIU Trojans basketball program will round out the camp staff. There is a 7:1 camper to coach ratio.

"It is our goal that campers will emerge from the TIU Youth Basketball Camp as leaders with the confidence, integrity and enthusiasm essential for success both on and off the court," Coach Roberts said.

The cost for the 5-day camp is $225, which includes excellent individual and team instruction, daily leadership training exercises, and inspirational character worksheets. Camp activities also include 3-on-3 competitions and 5-on-5 games. Daily lunch is provided each day except Friday, and campers receive a camp T-shirt. In addition, all campers will receive free season passes to TIU basketball home games.

The daily schedule runs from 9 am to 4 pm, but the gym is available beginning at 8 am for early drop-off and individual skill work with coaches.
