Sherman Cafe joins in Elgin Madness

The cafe at Advocate Sherman Hospital has submitted a signature dish for this year's Elgin Madness, a friendly restaurant competition aimed at highlighting local establishments.

Staff at the Sherman Café have submitted a healthy fruit and nut salad for the competition, which begins with first round voting from Friday, March 27 through Wednesday, April 1.

During the first round, residents are encouraged to visit the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce or Downtown Neighborhood Association of Elgin Facebook pages and vote by "liking" the photo of their favorite dish.

At the completion of the first-round voting, the top four vote-getters will be entered into a "Final Four" bracket, where residents will again vote for their favorite dish April 2-4. The competition will then be narrowed down to the final two participants, when residents can vote for their championship dish on April 6.

The winning establishment will be honored and presented a trophy during a presentation a few days later.

To vote for the Sherman Café, visit the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce or Downtown Neighborhood Association of Elgin Facebook pages beginning at 2 p.m. March 27 and "like" the photo of the fruit and nut salad.
