Crowds flock to Comic Con at Schaumburg Township District Library

A Comic Con celebration of all things pop culture drew nearly 1,000 people to the Schaumburg Township District Library on Saturday, March 21. Members of the Star Wars 501st Legion, along with Frozen's Elsa, Spiderman, Batman and other superheroes greeted library visitors and posed for photos. Children marched in a costume parade, teens attended a workshop on drawing superheroes, and all ages met graphic novel authors and illustrators.

In the Digital Production Studio, comic book fans had the opportunity to become a character in a comic strip. Live Action Role Playing, trivia, face painting and more were all part of the popular event.

"This was a great way for people of all ages and backgrounds to celebrate and bond over comics, pop culture and fandoms, and to see the library in a unique way," said Teen Librarian Katie LaMantia.

Events for all ages coming next to the Schaumburg Township District Library are the National Library Week Kick-off Celebration on Sunday, April 12; and the Environmental Fair on Saturday, May 2.
