Jimmy Govern had a big day at the plate for Libertyville's baseball team Wednesday.

The Eastern Illinois-bound shortstop went 2-for-4 with a triple and 3 RBI, as the Wildcats pounded Palatine 10-0 in seven innings.

Chase Patterson had a single and 2 RBI for Libertyville. Riley Lees, Jake Vogt (1-for-2) and Sean Ferraro (1-for-3) each scored twice. Four Libertyville pitchers - Andrew Plunkett, Jack Shanahan, Ben Kimpler and Tim Calamari - combined on the shutout.

Luke Peterson was 2-for-2 with a double for Mundelein (5-0), while Sam Osisek went 2-for-3. Reid Rubio also doubled, and Reese Dolan tripled. Brendan Murphy pitched 5 innings, striking out six, for the win.

Grayslake Central 5, Monsignor Bonner (Pa.) 1: In Orlando, Fla., senior left-hander David Llorens fanned 6 over 5 innings in leading the Rams to the victory.

Grayslake Central (2-1) plays its final game in Disney today against Haverford out of Pennsylvania.

Junior lefty Griffin Edwards tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, as the Rams provided their lefty pitchers with plenty of run support early in the game. Grayslake Central posted 3 runs in the first inning, as Sam Ruhlmann smacked a 2-RBI double bringing home Jay Hoffman and Alex Ruiz. One out later, Anthony Fitzgerald (2-for-3) singled home Ruhlmann, giving the Rams a lead they would never relinquish.

Grayslake Central added a pair of runs in the second, as Hoffman posted his second hit for an RBI. He later scored on a Ruiz groundout. The Rams were held in check the rest of the way but played errorless defense in support of their pitchers.

"David (Llorens) had good command with his pitches today, and I'm really proud of the offensive pressure and execution we were able to deploy early in the game," said Rams coach Troy Whalen. "We played close to a clean game on both sides of the ball, so that's encouraging to see for this time of year."

White Plains (Ala.) 7, Grayslake North 4: Jake Damore was 2-for-3 and Kyle Baker doubled for the Knights in their loss.

Declan Peterson (1-for-3) and Alex Carrillo each knocked in a run for Grayslake North.

Scottie Gordon earned the win in relief, throwing 3⅓ innings and allowing only 1 run, which was unearned.

Highland 3, Lakes 2 (8 inn.): On Tuesday, the Eagles fell to 0-1-1 with the extra-inning loss.

Lakes coach Ray Gialo said his team got quality pitching and some timely hitting to give itself a chance to win, but the Eagles' defense failed them for a second game in a row. Lakes committed 4 errors, resulting in all 3 of Highland's runs being unearned.

Lakes seniors Jeremy Mackey and Bill Morris and junior Ben Milewski pitched well, combining to allow just 2 hits. Junior Joey Ruefer went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and senior Cody Nuxoll was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
