Gun story was opinion disguised as news

I use you as a source for much of my news because your reporters rarely distort the news to promote their agenda like so many news outlets do. But your front page piece by Burt Constable on legislation to allow sound suppressors on guns March 12 belongs on the Opinion page, not the front page.

He blatantly fosters his anti-gun position, disguising it as news. He cites "statistics" about declining gun ownership that are often put out by the gun haters but are refuted by facts from the Justice Department. He ends with " ... maybe someone can draft a bill that makes guns less likely to damage the health of everyone else."

There is a simple way to do that, Burt. Enforce the laws we already have that are designed to keeps guns out of the hands of criminals; and stop judges and prosecutors from giving gun-carrying criminals a pass.

That would be much better than going after law-abiding citizens who are not the problem and trying to use an eraser on the Constitution.
