Baseball: Fox Valley roundup Saturday, March 21

Bartlett 9, Elk Grove 0: Tripp Paris allowed just 1 hit with 3 strikeouts and no walks as the Hawks opened their season with a nonconference win. Paris also had a 3-run home run, while Cameron Mays went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI for Bartlett. Adding to the offense were Myles Zillinsky (2-for-4, 3B, 2 RBI), Jordan Flint (RBI) and Dru Gonzales (2B).'

Elgin splits: Scotty Palmer and Will Welch combined on a 3-hitter as Elgin downed Rockford Jefferson 13-0 in five innings in Game 1 of a nonconference doubleheader Jefferson came back to win the nightcap 8-7. In the opener, Tom Sobeski was 3-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBI, Dean Anderson went 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI and Palmer, who struck out 8 in his 4 innings on the hill, was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Rigoberto Sanchez (3-for-3), Eddy Ramos (2-for-4, RBI), Mike Gonzalez (2-for-4, 3 RBI) and Jack Koeckritz (RBI) also contributed for the Maroons. In Game 2, Sobeski was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI while Anderson went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Sanchez and Koeckritz each had 2 hits as well. John Nelson suffered the pitching loss.

Ridgewood 4, Streamwood 0: Tim Crom had 2 doubles and Jr Alvarez a single 2-bagger for the Sabres' only hits in this nonconference loss. Zach Campbell was Streamwood's losing pitcher.

Schaumburg 6, Huntley 0: Brian Wiggins' single was Huntley's only hit in this nonconference defeat. Noah Konie took the loss for the Red Raiders.

Burlington Central 11, CL Central 1: Max Judnic had a grand slam home run while Kevin Jerger and Jake Johnson combined on a 4-hitter to lead the Rockets to a nonconference win in their season opener. Also contributing to the offense for BC were Tanner Smith (2-for-3), Andrew Wiss (3B, RBI), John Murphy (2B, RBI), Andrew Lauber (2B, RBI), Killian Vascica (2B, RBI) and Ryan Gannon (RBI).

CL South 11, IC Catholic 2: Garrett Bright was 3-for-4 with a home run and 4 RBI and Collin Chubb went 3-for-4 as the Gators (1-1) won easily in nonconference play. Nick Van Witzenburg (2-for-4, RBI), John Constantino (2-for-3, 2B), Dakota Siwula (2B), Mike Avella (RBI) and Derek Bulger (RBI) also contributed for Crystal Lake South. Matthew Schingel was the winning pitcher with relief help from Avella and Tim Siesennop.

Cary-Grove 15, Ottawa 0: Wyatt Mascarella went 3-for-5 with a home run and 5 RBI as Cary-Grove (2-0-1) rolled to a nonconference win. Also contributing to the Trojans' 17-hit attack were Larkin Hanselmann (2B, RBI), Jack Starr (2B, RBI), Matt Sutherland (2-for-3, 2 RBI), Tyler Pennington (2 RBI), Jimmy Perkins (2-for-4, 2B), Connor Leach (3-for-4, 2 RBI), Shane Barlas (RBI) and George Hartke (2B, RBI). ick Franz earned the win on the mound allowing just 2 hits in 4 innings.

Nazareth 10, St. Edward 0: Jake LaFrenz and Patrick Costello each had doubles but those were St. Edward's only hits in this nonconference loss. Jack Tierney suffered the loss on the mound for the Green Wave.

Westminster Christian 12, North Boone 5: Ian Merlak (2-for-3, RBI), Luke Weston and Frank Angiulo (2-for-4, 2 RBI) each had doubles to lead the Warriors to a nonconference win in their season opener. Tyler Mamrot, Tyler Schoemann and Justin Rasmussen also drove in runs for the winners and Rasmussen was the winning pitcher.

Hampshire sweeps: Tyler Schutt had 3 doubles and an RBI in the opener as the Whip-Purs rolled to a 9-0 nonconference win over Round Lake. Michael Kruse (2-for-2, 2B, 2 RBI), Trey Schramm (2B, RBI), Jayson Fleisner (RBI) and Tristyn Ross (2B, RBI) also contributed. Jacob Manning, who struck out 7 in 4 innings, was the winning pitcher. In Game 2, the Whips rolled to a 15-0 win as Ross (2-for-3, 2B, RBI) led the offense. Bryan Diete (2B, RBI), Tyler Petry (RBI), Adam Bell (RBI), Austn Luchtman (2B, 2 RBI), Alec Consigny (2B, 2 RBI), Jeremy Curran (RBI) and Noah Schrader (RBI) also contributed. Bell was the winning pitcher.
