St. Edward 8, Lisle 1: Junior Lindsay Zdroik fired a 2-hitter with 15 strikeouts and 2 walks and went 2-for-4 with an RBI as St. Edward downed Lisle for the first time since 2008. Adding to the offense for the Green Wave (1-0-1) were Allison Stratman (3-for-4 2B, HR, 3 RBI), Devyn Ernst (2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI), Gloria Stoltz (2-for-3, RBI), and Ryann Scully (2-for-4).
Huntley 3, DeKalb 2: Megan Larson was 2-for-3 while Jessica Shields and Haley Spannraft each had RBI to lead the Red Raiders to a nonconference win in their season opener. Kateri Conklin picked up the win in the circle, allowing 3 hits with 9 strikeouts and 9 walks. Huntley will take on defending Class 4A state champion Warren at 10 a.m. Monday at the Rosemont Dome.
Prospect 6, Elgin 5: Prospect scored single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to come back and beat the Maroons in nonconference action. Destiny West (HR, 2 RBI), Sabrina Stockman (2-for-3, RBI), Jessica Rago (2-for-4, 2B, RBI), Cassidy Sell (RBI) and Ayanna Herrera (2-for-3, 2B) led the Elgin offense. Rago suffered the pitching loss for the Maroons (0-3). She struck out 11 and walked 7.
