Man charged with stabbing woman 20 times gets psychologist
WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) - A 19-year-old suburban Chicago man accused of stabbing a woman more than 20 times outside of movie theater will be evaluated by a court-funded psychologist before his next court appearance.
Lake County Judge Daniel Shanes approved funding to have a psychologist interview Daniel Dion of Des Plaines in jail and prepare a mental health evaluation.
The Chicago Tribune reports (http://trib.in/1ALgGex) Dion told the judge he would cooperate with the psychologist.
The funding was requested because Dion cannot afford a privately funded evaluation.
Dion has pleaded not guilty to one count of attempted first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated battery for allegedly stabbing 24-year-old Katherine King of Vernon Hills with a 4-inch, serrated combat knife outside of a Deer Park movie theater.
