Take time to slow down and enjoy life

" They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind." Hosea 8:7

Ever feel like you've been swept up in a whirlwind of activity with no relief in sight?

In this day and age we are busier than ever. It's easy to get caught in a flurry of activity with little quiet time. A friend of mine shared her season of too much activity and the problems it caused.

In the midst of her hustle and bustle, she realized God was trying to get her attention but she was too busy to notice. She pushed herself to succeed. She thought by earning just a little more money all her problems would be solved. So she took an extra job on top of her already busy work schedule.

She also was a pastor's wife and the mother of a teenager. Then she added a long drive one way to visit her father at the nursing home.

One particular night on her way home an anxiety attack caught her attention. She felt anxious, exhausted and could barely catch her breath. Then, with cars whizzing past her in the traffic, she felt she couldn't handle the fast lane anymore.

Pulling over to the side of the road, she realized what she just experienced was an analogy of her own life. She bargained with God if he would help her make it the rest of the way home she would change her lifestyle.

Over the next weeks she continued to pray and seek God regarding what she could eliminate and what she should keep. She felt she was receiving insight and wisdom to know what she needed to do.

She eliminated two part-time jobs and worked only one. She cut back on her visits to the nursing home, and with time she began to heal.

She thought depending on money, jobs and things would eventually pay off and make her happy. She took a slower approach to life like Jesus did. She discovered real success the day she stopped her whirlwind of activity and slowed down to enjoy life God's way.
