Cook County seeks more poll workers

Cook County needs more poll workers to oversee elections April 7 in municipalities including Buffalo Grove, Des Plaines, Hoffman Estates, Mount Prospect, Rolling Meadows, Streamwood and Wheeling.

Poll workers serve either as election judges or equipment managers. Election judges receive $175 for completing a 3-hour training session and working on Election Day. Equipment managers, who have more duties and must set up voting equipment before Election Day, receive $325.

Prospective poll workers can find more information, including a page of Frequently Asked Questions about working as an election judge or equipment manager, on the Cook County Clerk's website, cookcountyclerk.com.

To qualify, you must be a registered voter and live in Cook County. People interested in serving on Election Day can complete an online application or call (312) 603-0965. Prospective poll workers are urged to apply as soon as possible, since training will be required.
