Two Fox Lake residents accused of drug possession

Two Fox Lake residents have been charged with possession of crack cocaine, authorities said.

Xavier J. Thomas, 23, and Jordyn A. Anderson, 20, were arrested after a search warrant was executed on a residence in the 0-100 block of Maude Avenue, authorities said. The search was conducted by members of the Antioch, Fox Lake, and Lake Villa police departments at 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Items recovered from the home included 34 individually wrapped plastic bags of crack cocaine ready for sale with a combined weight of 19.6 grams, authorities said. In addition, authorities said, 20 pills of Norco, one pill of Alprazolam, and $3,340.88 in cash was seized.

The street value of the crack cocaine is $2,000, authorities said.

Thomas and Anderson were each charged with unlawful possession with intent to deliver and two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

If found guilty of the most serious charge, each could be sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Thomas and Anderson were taken to Lake County jail and ordered held in lieu of $100,000 bail. They are due in court April 18.

"Our police departments gather and share intelligence information regularly and are committed in getting the message out that our communities are actively combating illegal drug activity," Lake Villa Police Chief Craig Somerville said. "The devastating effects of drug abuse knows no borders. We are committed to providing safe environments for our residents and are more effective when we work together."
