Dist. 211 hosts networking event for instructional coaches

District 211 recently hosted a networking conference for area instructional coaches to share coaching models and strategies that are utilized in area schools. More than 60 participants from 38 Chicago-area high schools attended.

This is the first time District 211 has hosted this event. District 211 instructional coaches, as well as Lisa Small, associate superintendent for Instruction, spearheaded the event.

The agenda included opportunities to share instructional coaching models that have worked at each school. Glenbrook South presented on student engagement strategies and the CLICC Engagement Talk, and St. Charles high schools presented on student-centered coaching, which provided tools and suggestions for collecting evidence to assist teachers in their instruction. Participants created color pyramids that were an example of a formative assessment, and learned a review game called "Quiz Quiz Trade," which demonstrated another engaging activity.

The networking experience was considered invaluable to several of the participants. Many said they appreciated being able to share what their school does and learn from others. Others said they learned valuable tools and useful ideas through the conversation.

The schools that participated in the event include: Academy North, Academy South, Addison Trail High School, Barrington High School, Burlington High School, Conant High School, Evanston Township High School, Fenton High School, Fremd High School, Glenbard East High School, Glenbard North High School, Glenbard South High School, Glenbard West High School, Glenbrook South, Hillcrest High School, Hinsdale South High School, Hoffman Estates High School, Lake Zurich High School, Leyden High School D212, Lincoln-Way Central, Lincoln-Way East, Lincoln-Way North, Lincoln-Way West, Lyons Township High School, Maine East High School, Maine South High School, Maine West High School, Naperville Central High School, Naperville North High School, Niles North, Niles West, Oak Forest High School, Palatine High School, Schaumburg High School, St. Charles East High School, St. Charles North High School, Tinley Park High School, and Willowbrook High School.
