Doug Glanz says he got the genes to be a good police officer from his father, who spent 36 years on the force in Evanston. "There's nothing else I'd rather do. Telling everyone "I'm a five-tool guy," Will Ferrell was off on his barnstorming tour yesterday through five Arizona spring training games, including the Cubs and White Sox. Wearing No. 19 for every team, the star of "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," "Elf" pinch hit, rather unsuccessfully, for the Cubs and spent a little time as their third base coach, holding up signs, one of which said, "Remember These Games Don't Count." Richards' 900th point lifts Blackhawks over Coyotes 2-1

Brad Richards scored a tiebreaking power-play goal with 7:11 left in the third period to give the Blackhawks a 2-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes last night. It was the 900th NHL point for Richards, who entered in ninth place among active players. Full story.

Safety Parker on Bears' radar

Just because the Bears signed veteran safety Antrel Rolle late Wednesday night doesn't mean they won't also try to get a deal done with former Chiefs safety Ron Parker, who visited Halas Hall yesterday. Last year the Bears signed four free agent safeties - Ryan Mundy, Danny McCray, M.D. Jennings and Adrian Wilson - though only Mundy and McCray made it to the season opener. Full story.

An auction company says it has Michael Jordan's earliest known pair of game-worn shoes from his rookie season with the Chicago Bulls. SCP Auctions expects to get $50,000 or more when it auctions off the shoes beginning April 8. Full story.
