Social Security offices open an extra hour

Social Security offices will be open to the public an extra hour on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays starting Monday, March 16. A field office that has been open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. will now be open until 4 p.m. On Wednesdays, offices will continue to close to the public at noon. In recent years, Social Security says it has reduced public office hours due to congressional budget cuts, growing backlogs and staffing losses. for information visit www.socialsecurity.gov or call (800) 772-1213 (voice) and (800) 325-0778 (TTY), from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
