Literacy Connection needs adult volunteers

The Literacy Connection needs more tutors. Unfortunately, 144 adults remain on the waiting list to share their goals with someone who can tutor them.

If you can give just one to two hours per week, you will help someone achieve their literacy goals and will impact your life and someone else's life in a positive way.

Introduction to The Literacy Connection & Tutor Training takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 17-26, at Presence St. Joseph Hospital, 77 N. Airlite St., Elgin.

A second session will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, April 30 to May 11, at Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin.

On March 17 and April 30, the first hour will be an introduction to The Literacy Connection and the remaining time is the training. It is just $25 for the book and materials.

Registration is recommended for those interested in attending. Call The Literacy Connection at (847) 742-6565, email info@elginliteracy.org for visit www.elginliteracy.org to learn more about the organization.
