'The Lure and Lore of Spices' March 19 at St. Charles library

On Thursday, March 19, John Cirpinski of The Spice House in Geneva presents "The Lure and Lore of Spices" at 7 p.m. at the St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. Sixth Ave.

Cirpinski will share interesting historical facts, anecdotes and entertaining tales of spices. You'll learn how spices and herbs play an important role in creating delicious meals.

The spice trade was the world's biggest industry: destroying empires and leading to the discovery of new continents. Today, you only have to travel to the nearest supermarket or spice store, but cultural flavors still exist.
