Tennessee offensive coordinator DeBord will make $505,000
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - New Tennessee offensive coordinator Mike DeBord has a two-year contract that will pay him $505,000 annually.
DeBord's contract, obtained through a public records request, runs through Feb. 28, 2017. The contract includes incentives that would increase his pay by either 8.33 percent if Tennessee makes a bowl game, 12 percent if Tennessee's in a "New Year's Six" bowl game or 16 percent if the Volunteers reach the College Football Playoff.
DeBord was hired last month to replace Mike Bajakian, who left to become the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' quarterbacks coach. Bajakian was making $480,000 with similar incentives.
DeBord has three decades of coaching experience. He was Michigan's offensive coordinator from 1997-99 and 2006-07 and worked as an NFL assistant from 2008-12. He spent the last two seasons away from coaching.
