Ally Bradford and Seth Egger were being remembered yesterday as confident, goofy, positive and athletic teens by family members and friends mourning their deaths after a tragic Tuesday evening crash. COD board chairman calls for internal expense reviews

College of DuPage board chairman Erin Birt last night called for a review of the college's expense policies and a review of the College of DuPage Foundation Board. Arlington Heights woman dies from crash injuries

An Arlington Heights woman who was struck by a car Monday morning while walking her dog has died. Barbara Rose Leinonen, 57, died yesterday, according to a statement from her family released by Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Full story.

Marijuana hidden in frozen avocados

More than a ton of marijuana worth $10 million was found within a shipment of frozen avocado pulp that arrived to a Cook County cold storage facility, sheriff's officials said yesterday. Officers searched 1,512 boxes of frozen avocado pulp and found flat bricks of marijuana - a total of 2,100 pounds - some of which was covered by the avocado pulp, police said. Full story.

Forensic pathologist in Calusinski case fires back

A forensic pathologist accused of misdiagnosing the death of a 16-month-old boy in 2009 responded to critics yesterday by saying his position was distorted. Dr. Eupil Choi stands by his original finding that the boy died as the result of a catastrophic skull fracture that happened not long before his death. Round Lake Heights police chief denies firing for sexual rejection

Round Lake Heights Police Chief John Roehlk and the village have formally denied claims made in a federal lawsuit alleging he fired a cop last summer for refusing his repeated sexual advances. Benet Academy celebrates girls basketball state title

The Benet Academy girls basketball team celebrated its state championship with students and faculty yesterday during a pep rally at the Lisle school. The Lady Redwings defeated Fremd 61-39 Saturday at Redbird Arena in Normal to claim the Illinois High School Association girls basketball Class 4A state crown. Full story.

Bears GM, coach moving forward with Cutler

Both Bears General Manager Ryan Pace and head coach John Fox finally pledged allegiance to embattled quarterback Jay Cutler as the team's starter, after both declined to do so last month at the NFL Scouting Combine. Cutler led the NFL with 24 turnovers last season, including 18 interceptions. His 88.6 passer rating was the second best of his nine-year career, and his 28 TD passes also were a personal best.
