Heroin OD reversal drug saves life:

Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko said a woman's life was saved Wednesday night after a police officer administered a heroin overdose reversal drug to her. A preliminary investigation indicated the 28-year-old woman and a friend were driving to a Narcotics Anonymous meeting when she began injecting the narcotic, Filenko said. The friend immediately called 911 at 8:10 p.m. and an officer was at Bellevue and Midland drives in two minutes, Filenko said. He said the woman was taken by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. "I'm extremely proud of the officer who assisted saving this young woman's life," Filenko said.
