Sheriff Prim, do the right thing

Sheriff Prim, do the right thing

In May 2003, my stepdaughter, Caitlin Weese, was struck by a drunken driver. She died of her injuries two days later.

When I heard the newly-elected sheriff of McHenry County appointed as his patrol division commander a man with a history of not only a DUI arrest but assault charges, including at least one against a woman, I was appalled something like this could happen in our county.

Since Caitlin's death, my family and I have worked hard to try and avoid another family having to live through the pain we experienced. DUI deaths are preventable. And so is hiring a man who obviously has no respect for the people who share our public streets with him. Sheriff Prim, do the right thing and remove Matt McNamara from his position.

Our actions have consequences. Getting a DUI shouldn't give you the opportunity to make a six-figure income on the backs of the taxpayers.
