Beacon Hill's top 3 split on Boston Olympics ballot question

BOSTON (AP) - Beacon Hill's three most powerful politicians are giving three somewhat different answers when asked if they would vote in favor of a ballot question that would ban additional state dollars from supporting Boston's 2024 Olympics bid.

Republican Gov. Charlie Baker said he would sign the petition to put the question on the ballot next year, but declined to say whether he would vote for it until he sees the specific language.

Democratic House Speaker Robert DeLeo said he would vote for the ballot question.

Fellow Democrat, Senate President Stan Rosenberg, said the public should have enough trust in their elected officials that if they say they won't support public money going to the Olympics they should believe them.

All three were speaking Monday on the "Greater Boston" program on WGBH-TV.
