Sweet end to Brentwood School fundraiser

They say victory is sweet. Sometimes, literally.

To celebrate the success of Brentwood School's PTO fundraiser, Principal Michael Merritt good-naturedly took a pie in the face - something he promised to do if the PTO raised $7,000.

Not only did Brentwood meet the goal, they surpassed it, and sold $9,360 worth of World's Finest Chocolate. The funds received from the sales will go directly back into the school, in the form of celebration assemblies, end-of-the-year events, curricular resources, and school beautification.

Students excitedly chanted, "Pie in the face!" and Merritt braced himself with a large smile.

Raffle winner Alexandra Britto threw the pie - a direct hit.

"I'm not sure if it is a good thing or a bad thing that our students were so excited to see me take a pie to the face ... but it was a great time nonetheless," Merritt said. "We are extremely proud of all our Bears for their hard work."
