Three charged in connection with burglaries and thefts throughout Lake County

Two adults and a juvenile were arrested and charged in connection with a series of commercial burglaries and thefts throughout Lake County, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

The burglaries were at businesses in unincorporated Lake County, primarily those with video gambling machines, as well as in Round Lake Beach, Lindenhurst, Waukegan and Gurnee, police said.

After breaking into the businesses, the intruders would force open the gambling machines and remove an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

They also took merchandise and caused extensive damage to the interior of the businesses, according to the sheriff's office.

Information shared between the sheriff's office and police in Gurnee, Round Lake Beach, Lindenhurst, Waukegan and Zion - which each conducted their own investigations - led to the arrest of the three offenders, authorities said.

Deantea D. Williams, 18, of Waukegan, and Monique Greathouse, 20, of North Chicago, were taken into custody Thursday and held pending a bond hearing today, police said.

The juvenile was held at the Robert W. Depke Juvenile Justice Center/Hulse Detention Center near Vernon Hills.

Earlier Friday, Round Lake Beach police reported a 17-year-old male from Round Lake Beach was taken into custody in Zion on Thursday and charged with burglary and criminal damage to property regarding a Christmas Eve break in at Raymond Ellis Elementary School. Police said the 17-year-old also was involved in crimes in other jurisdictions.
