Police: Bartlett man had nearly a kilo of cocaine worth $97,000
A Bartlett man who police say had nearly one kilogram of cocaine in his bedroom was ordered held on $200,000 bail Friday.
Jose Magallanes, of the 500 block of Deer Park Circle, was arrested after members of the North Central Narcotics Task Force recovered 970 grams of cocaine from his home after they executed a search warrant Thursday, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney David Shin.
Authorities said the drugs have a street value of $97,000.
Magallanes, 21, was charged with manufacture and delivery of cocaine, a class X felony, and possession of a controlled substance, a class 1 felony. If convicted of the most serious charge, he faces a minimum of 15 years in prison, Shin said.
Officers also recovered a scale, drug packages, a ledger and an undetermined amount of U.S. currency, Shin said.
Magallanes, who has no criminal background, next appears in court on March 27.
