Slain teacher's father testifies how police woke family

Shaun Wild's family last saw him alive less than a week before his Feb. 4 2012, stabbing death.

Wild's father, Bruce WIld, testified Thursday that Shaun had last visited his parent's Brown Deer, Wisconsin, home on Jan. 29, 2012, the weekend before he was stabbed inside a Naperville bar.

"We shared breakfast that Sunday and saw him off as he headed back to Illinois," Bruce Wild said of his son, who was known to call home weekly and keep in touch with his family. "Then at 3 a.m. on Feb. 4 (2012) three Brown Deer police officers knocked on our door and asked if we had a son named Shaun in Naperville. He then informed us Shaun was deceased."

The family drove to Naperville that day, even attending a memorial service on the night of Feb. 4 at North Central College, where Shaun graduated in 2011.

Bruce WIld said the family also went to the DuPage County coroner's office but decided not to view his son's body until his Feb. 9, 2012, wake, back home in Brown Deer.
